Mother's Skills Training Center
The Mother’s Skills Training Center was established to empower war- affected mothers who cannot afford to support themselves and their families. In July of 2004 PCO began its first one-year course. The course is designed to empower the mothers by providing them with skills in sewing. Literacy classes of various levels, Peace education and Women’s Health are also included in the course curriculum.
At the same time, the mothers who previously could not afford the cost of school fees are given the opportunity to send their children to attend school at the PCO Primary School. Every training course consists of a two 6-month terms. Upon completion of their coursework, the mothers will be welcomed into the PCO Women’s Cooperative, where they will produce quilts and various styles of clothing. The cooperative began in March of 2006.
