by Megan Fairbank last modified 2007-12-30 21:50

Hello friends,
Below is an account of what we did on Day-II of our assessment visit to Liberia

12/4/07-Monrovia, Liberia.

1. PCO- Liberia Staff meeting:

At 10:00AM, PCO’s Liberia assessment team began today
with meeting all the PCO representatives that reside
in Liberia. Those present at the meeting include:
Christine J. Wollie, Rev. Joe Jarwleh, Stanley Gaye
Dolo, Lawrence Myers (From Ghana), Matan Ben-Yusef
(former IV), and myself. The meeting was productive;
we discussed the designated strategy for retrieving
the Caldwell compound. We planned to provide the
necessary legal proof that PCO has rights to the youth
center and deciding which legal/ governmental
officials to contact. We also discussed our schedules
to meet NGO representatives, Government officials,
United Nations officials in Liberia. At the meeting I
turned over the Gbarnga Women project proposal to
Christine Wollie.

2. Meeting with Caldwell Township authorities

At 3:00, we met with the commissioner of Caldwell
township and her associates. We explained to her the
history, objectives and goals of PCO and discussed the
situation with the multi purpose youth center.
She welcomed PCO and made us aware of the dire need to
implement programs such as PCO’s in the township. She
said she was not aware of the situation and regretted
that it happened. She said that they (Caldwell
leadership) would meet with the parties who now reside
in the Youth center then meet with us on Friday 7
December at 2:00
Let’s keep our fingers crossed and wait for the result
of the meeting

Thank you

Emmanuel
